Why should I go to Camp Voyageur?
Camp Voyageur offers you a chance to do some real wilderness camping, make lifelong friends and to play and enjoy a variety of land and water sports. You get to do things at camp that you cannot do at home. For instance you can: water-ski, sail, sailboard, inner-tube, kayak, shoot archery and you'll explore the nearby wilderness by paddling and by foot.

Isn't four-weeks a long time to be away from home in the summer?
Your time will fly by at camp. It takes a couple of weeks to get in shape and have the wilderness skills you'll need for longer trips at the end of the session. In addition to taking wilderness trips at camp and you'll play soccer, ultimate Frisbee, sail on Farm Lake, fish, rock climb participate with friends in many more activities you usually cannot do at home.

I have never wilderness camped. Is that okay?
No problem, we'll spend the first few days of the camp session reviewing the basic canoeing and camping skills you'll need.

I've camped with the Boys Scouts and car camped before, will this help?
Sure, but at Camp Voyageur we camp in the roadless wilderness far from civilization. You'll learn how to move through the woods with minimal impact, and how to camp and carry all the gear needed to survive several days in the back country.

Do most campers come to Voyageur with friends?
Generally no. You'll make lots of new friends at Voyageur. Most boys return to camp year after year just to see the camp friends they have made from different parts of the country.

What activities can I do at camp?
You get to choose some of the activities you like to participate in each day.

What kind of day trips does Camp Voyageur offer?
There's lots to do near Voyageur. We take van trips to the International Wolf Center, Tower Soudan Mine, and Rock Climbing at Wolf Ridge. We also do day trips fishing, hiking and canoeing.

Can I bring my walk-man or gameboy?
No, we make our own entertainment at Voyageur.. You will find there is plenty to do at camp without your electronics from home. We do not allow walk-mans, gameboys, cell phones, pagers, boom boxes, video games, radio and all other electronics.

Can I send and receive e-mail at camp?
You can receive up to two e-mails per week while at camp but you cannot send e-mails from camp. You will have to rely on the US mail to keep in touch with your family and friends.

Do I need any special gear for camp?
Not really. Camp is the perfect place to wear out old clothes. The only camping gear you'll need to bring is a small sleeping bag and fishing gear, if you want to fish.

Can I catch fish at Voyageur?
You bet! We fish for northern, walleye, crappie and bass right in our camp bay, but you have to be patient to catch the big ones. We even offer day and wilderness trips fishing.

Can I bunk with my buddy?
As long as you are about the same age we'll put you in the same cabin.
