Evening Programs and Entertainment

At Camp Voyageur you will get a chance to enjoy and perform with others on stage and around the campfire. Since we do not have TVs or video games we make our own fun at camp, and you'll find every evening program is fun and exciting. Following the evening swim and sauna the mess hall bell or triangle will ring for us to gather for evening entertainment. Generally counselors lead games and skits on the Mess Hall stage. Some of our favorite evening activities are Voyageur "Trivial" Pursuit, Voyageur Feud, Voyageur Jeopardy, and Pictionary. Special Camp Voyageur evening programs include the Gong Show a chance to preview "raw" talent amongst campers, Camper Court, a chance for campers to square off with others on "legal matters", Bean Auction, where each camper sells a worthless item for dozens of beans, Casino Night, where the mess hall is turned into a northwoods casino and campers gamble play money, the traditional Sing Down, campers sing songs based by categories, cabin and individual talent shows, song fests and sing along, guest speakers and much more. Other popular evening activities are CV Commando water balloon assault, Clue, campers solve the mystery WELK, our own talent show broadcast LIVE from the mess hall and many others. Weather permitting we frequently gather with the mosquitoes at the Fire Circle to tell tall tales and share adventures and sing camp songs together.

Following each set of trips campers stand up at fire circle and tell the story of the canoe or hiking trip that they have recently completed. Sharing these adventures in the woods helps to prepare boys for the remaining wilderness excursions. Evening programs also feature local guest speakers to share the history of the area and their wilderness adventures taken. Some speakers have included dog sled guides, DNR representatives, Forest Service representatives, fishing guides, star-gazers, local authors and artists. Saturday night it's Movie Night at Voyageur-and at CV that means Robinson Crusoe! For campers isolated in the woods away from exposure to Hollywood an hour and a half movie is something to look forward to!
